Amazon is on the verge announcing the acquisition of Quidsi, the company which owns retail websites Diapers.com and Soap.com.
, the company will most probably make the acquisition official on Monday.
The deal is said to be worth $540 million and involves Quidsi founders joining Amazon on multi-year contracts.
The company, which founded Diaper.com in 2005, launched personal care product website Soap.com in July this year. Diaper.com is focused on offering baby care items including cribs and toys.
Quidsi also runs another retail website called Beautybar.com that sells make-up and hair-care products.
The company's business model is what attracted Amazon to buy it. Quidsi focusses on speedy delivery and customer support, as well as has an excellent approach to warehousing its products, saving filing and shipping costs.
Amazon is not new to acquiring rising online retail businesses. Only last year the company acquired popular online shoe and clothing retailer Zappos for $1.1 billion.
