Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update Expected This Week

Google may be releasing the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS over the next few days, with Goolge's Nexus One set to be the first handset to receive the update.

According to The Android Phone, Alvaro Fuentes Vasquez, a leader at the Open Handset Alliance, tweeted that the Nexus One will be getting an Android 2.3 over the air (OTA) update within the next few days.

“Preparen sus Nexus One (Developer version) para la actualización vía OTA de Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) para los próximos días :-D,” he tweeted.

Google was expected to release the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS along with the new Nexus Two device, but due to an unknown reason, the Nexus Two has been delayed.

The search giant, when contacted, said that it had nothing special to announce at this moment.

According to tech news site V3, Google's remarks seem to be contrary to the fact that the company just had a giant Gingerbread Man delivered to its headquarters.
