Social networking giant Facebook has updated its Blackberry Application adding its newest feature, Places to it in a bid to turn the popular business mobile platform into a location-based service one.
Version 220.127.116.11 can be downloaded from Blackberry App World and is compatible with all smartphones running Blackberry OS 4.5 or newer.
Facebook Places allow users to check-in at places within two kilometres of their actual location and let their "friends" on facebook know where they are.
The update also brings in the ability to read messages in a list - something that both Android and iPhone users already had.
You will also be able to search Facebook for people and pages straight from the application and the friends list has been redesigned and includes the Pages list from the Friends screen itself.
Google Chat though is not available yet ion this release although one might suspect that Blackberry wouldn't be happy if a competitor to its own Blackberry Messenger landed.
