Apple could announce that The Beatles back catalogue is coming to iTunes later today.
Citing people familiar with the matter, The Wall Street Journal said that Apple has reached an agreement with representatives of the band and their record label EMI. However, the sources cautioned that Apple could change its mind at the last minute.
The intricacies of the deal were not disclosed but Apple is expected to bring the full Beatles catalogue to the online music store.
The rumour follows Apple posting a message on its website on Monday saying: “Tomorrow is just another day. That you'll never forget.”
Apple is expected to make the announcement at 3:00 PM today.
The Beatles, considered by many to be one of the most iconic bands in history, continue to reach impressive sales figures 39 years after splitting up. In 2009, the band sold 3.3 million albums in the US, making them the third largest selling music act that year.
