The Economist has announced that its new app for Apple’s iPhone and iPad will be available as a free download from the App Store from 19 November.
The magazine said that existing print and online subscribers will be able to access the contents of each week’s issue in its entirety at no extra charge.
It is not yet know whether users will have to pay to view all content, or if it will follow the same model as its website and offer access to selected articles for free, PC World reports.
The announcement states that users with an activated Economist online account will be able to access the magazine through the app using the same log in details. Users will also receive immediate access to the magazine via app as soon as it launches on Friday, the announcement says.
The cost for a digital only subscription to The Economist currently costs £99 per annum, or available quarterly for £24.99.
