One Mobile Ring has just taken delivery of the new Sony Ericsson Android handset, the budget Xperia X8. The phone is the latest addition to the SE Xperia range, where it sits in between the large 4-inch screen based Xperia X10 and its micro counterpart - the Xperia X10 mini and mini pro. We thought we would publish these unboxing images just to whet your appetite, ahead of actually reviewing the handset.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 - out of its retail box, waiting for its contents to be spilled out for all and sundry to see.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 – fully unboxed. The X8 retail packaging is accompanied by the handset, a battery, a 2GB microSD card, an alternative silver coloured backing plate, data cable and adaptor for recharging, an in-ear hands-free headset, along with quick start guides and manuals.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, with a 3-inch 320x480 capacitive touch screen, running Android ‘Donut’ 1.6 with the Xperia overlay to the OS, with SE’s own social networking TimeScape application bundled in and a 3.2 megapixel camera.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 – top of the handset. The top houses the microUSB port (under the bottom panel) for both the charging, along with providing the means to connect to a computer via the data cable. There is also a power button for powering on the device, which is also used to put the phone into standby mode – where alongside this button, is the 3.5mm audio jack socket for headphones.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 – righthand side of the phone. This part of the Xperia X8 contains the volume increase and decrease toggle, along with a dedicated camera button where the lefthand side of the mobile is entirely blank. The X8 also has a build in FM radio with RDS, which accompanied the smaller X10 mini mobiles and was missing from the larger X10.
