Amazon Kindle Introduces E-Book Gift Function

Online retail giant Amazon has introduced a new feature to the Kindle e-book store, allowing people to give e-books as gifts this holiday season.

According to the company, people will now be able to "gift" Kindle e-books to their families and friends, whether they have a Kindle device or not.

Russ Grandinetti, Vice President of Amazon Kindle, said in a statement that: “We are thrilled to make it easier than ever for our customers to give their favourite Kindle book to a friend or family member as a gift. We're making this functionality available in time for the holidays to offer an easy, stress free holiday shopping option for anyone - not just Kindle owners.”

Consumers will be able to "gift" an e-book by simply selecting the option of 'Give as a Gift' after choosing the e-book they want to send as a gift from the Kindle Store. The e-book will be sent via e-mail and recipients will be able to read the book on any Kindle app or device.
