Online retailer Ebuyer has vowed to take on Amazon's Black Friday event with its own version called Lunch-time specials which will run for two hours (between 11am and 1pm) from today to Friday.
The first deal on offer (this has already ended) is a 1TB Western Digital caviar green 5400RPM SATAII hard disk drive, one which normally costs £41.99 at Amazon but which retails for £37.99 including delivery and three years warranty at Ebuyer.
The company has been very clear about the fact that the deals are squarely aimed at Amazon. Not only does Ebuyer mentions its competitor in the deal saying that they were 10 per cent cheaper than Amazon but they repeatedly told their 10,000 followers on Twitter to "ignore #blackfriday".
Smaller online retailers like Scan or Aria, have had special daily deals going on for some years now but it is the first time that two of the biggest online retailers have slashed prices as deeply as they did albeit on a selected range of products.
