News Corp. owner Rupert Murdoch has reportedly teamed up with Apple CEO Steve Jobs to produce a daily newspaper designed specifically for the iPad.
According to Women's Wear Daily, News Corp. has been working on the project, called 'The Daily' for the past three months and is expected to launch the newspaper in the beginning of 2011 on a weekly or monthly subscription-based model.
The newspaper will be exclusive to the iPad and is set to offer media rich news stories and editorial. The project has its own 100-strong team and is currently operating from the 26th floor of the News Corp. building.
Women's Wear Daily said that the project is being headed by Jesse Angelo, the managing editor of The New York Post, who has tasked the staff to break stories, establish a beat and find new topics to cover.
Set to cost 99 cents per week, The Daily is Rupert Murdoch's latest attempt to cash-in on the popularity of tablet devices and revive dwindling newspaper sales.
