Amazon will offer the old version of its popular ebook reader, the Kindle, for $89 for Black Friday, making it a very viable alternative to the dozens of ebook readers that have flooded the market recently.
The deal is currently only available in the US and will apparently run until stock last. The old version uses the old E-Ink technology (which can be found in the Barnes & Noble Nook) whereas the new Kindle uses the new E Ink (Pearl) which provides with a much better contrast.
The rest of the specification remains the same; no Wi-Fi but 3G Wireless and it is slightly bigger. Wil the UK follow suit?
There are speculations that Amazon may well be preparing a £99 3G + Wi-Fi Kindle for its Black Friday sales, one which ends on Friday. Such a deal would represent a saving of £40 and would be a great way of enticing users while generating a massive buzz.
