Opera Software has said that its popular mobile phone browser Opera Mini had 76.3 million users in October, a jump of 92 per cent from last year.
In a report released yesterday, the company informed that Opera Mini users viewed over 41.6 billion pages in October, an increase of 12.6 per cent from September and 142 per cent from October last year.
Opera Mini users generated 616 million megabytes of data for mobile phone operators around the world, a 15.1 per cent increase from September. However, if that data had not compressed by Opera Mini, then mobile phone companies could have handled 5.7 petabytes of data generated by the mobile browser in October.
Jon von Tetzchner, Co-founder, Opera, said in a statement: “We see this trend already emerging in different regions around the world. The mobile Web will bring a profound change in how we connect with one another. I think the results from this survey already show that change taking place.”
