Enterprise CRM software maker Salesforce has hired JP Rangaswami for the newly created position of chief scientist at the company.
According to Salesforce, Rangaswami, who was previously employed with BT at the same position, will be responsible for pitching Salesforce's real-time, mobile and social cloud based apps to European customers and contribute to the general product strategy.
Rangaswami has 30 years of corporate experience under his belt. Rangaswami was also employed by investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. The cloud technology evangelist is known for his open source oriented philosophy towards enterprise software.
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said in a statement: “I can think of no one better as salesforce.com's Chief Scientist than JP Rangaswami. He has the rare talent of being able to see what the future should be, knowing what it takes to get there, and the enthusiasm to make it happen. He is a true innovator, and I am thrilled he's joined salesforce.com.”
