Security software vendor Trend Micro Systems has announced its plans to acquire data protection specialist Mobile Armor in order to boost its data security portfolio.
In a press release, the company said that the acquisition will not only enhance its existing portfolio but will allow them to address the emerging mobile data security market.
As smartphones enter the work space along with laptops and tablets, it has become increasingly important for businesses to make sure that the information stored in the device is secure in case it gets lost or stolen.
“Mobile Armor's solutions further our vision of protecting digital information wherever it resides and complements our recent announcement of Trend Micro SecureCloud for securing and controlling data in the cloud,” Eva Chen, Trend Micro CEO said in a statement.
The company hopes to complete the acquisition by December 31st 2010. Mobile Armor is majority owned by Dolphin Equity based in New York.
