Microsoft's 343 Industries is reportedly working on the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, the first game in the popular gaming series.
According to CVG, gaming magazine Games Master has speculated that the remake could be moulded into the advanced Halo: Reach engine and might be launched before the sequel to Halo 3 in 2012.
If the rumours about the game are to be believed then Microsoft could decide to release the remake on the 10th anniversary of Halo next year.
Halo: Combat Evolved was launched in November 2001. Games under the Halo franchise have sold over 34 million units worldwide.
Stephen McGill, Microsoft UK’s director of entertainment and devices, told Games Master: “I imagine it's a good idea. I think some people want to go back to older games and see them revisited and I think a lot of developers want to see that too.”
Users wishing to play the original Halo: Combat Evolved can download the game from the Originals section on Xbox Live.
