Microsoft Celebrates Five Years Of The Xbox 360

Microsoft has celebrated the fifth anniversary of the Xbox 360 in the UK, by highlighting some of the key milestones in the history of the popular gaming console.

CVG reports that the software giant marked the occasion by reminiscing about the launch of the console on December 2nd 2005, the launch of Xbox Live Party in 2008, the introduction of streaming services in 2009 and the release of Kinect this year.

Stephen McGill, the director of Xbox for the UK and Ireland, said in a statement that: “Families are looking for more value than ever this Christmas and looking to stretch their money. An Xbox 360 console and Kinect can bring everyone together this season and entertain every single member of the family, from kids to grandparents”.

Microsoft also took the opportunity to emphasise the success of Kinect. The device sold 2.5 million units in the first 25 days of its launch and Microsoft is aiming to have 5 million sold by the end of this year.
