Online data collaboration platform start-up Factual has secured funding worth $25 million from Silicon Valley investors led by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz and SV Angel.
The company, which was founded by Gil Elbaz in 2007, said that the money will be used to fuel growth, expand its offerings and hiring fresh talent.
In a press release, the company said that Ben Horowitz of Andreessen Horowitz and Danny Rimer of Index Ventures will join its board of directors.
Ben Horowitz said in a statement: “Factual is a key player in the emerging data-as-a-service market, with the potential to fundamentally impact how people and businesses use data to make decisions. With Gil’s proven success as an entrepreneur and visionary, we believe he will build Factual into an important company.”
Gil Elbaz was behind Applied Semantics, the company which created the technology on which Google's AdSense platform is based on. The ad serving platform was acquired by the search giant in 2003.
