Amazon UK has launched its new Video Games Trade-In Store, set to allow consumers to trade in old video games for Amazon Credits.
In a move that is set to go down badly with video game publishers struggling to control the resale of their games, the scheme could well prove quite lucrative to customers looking to ship their unwanted games and accessories to Amazon in exchange for credits that will be deposited to their accounts.
Chris Poad, director of video games at Amazon.co.uk said in a statement: “Trading-in with Amazon.co.uk is quick and easy, providing customers with a great way to exchange their old games and save money on future purchases."
Users willing to trade-in their old video games will first have to make sure that their game is in acceptable condition. Then they will have to print a delivery label and packing slip and ship the game to Amazon. When the game is received and examined, credits will be deposited to their Amazon account.
