Hewlett Packard (HP) has released firmware updates for six printers supporting for Apple's AirPrint feature for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices running iOS 4.2.
The AirPrint feature, which was launched back in November, will allow iOS 4.2-based devices to wirelessly print via selected HP printers.
The new additions to the AirPrint support will join the ranks of other HP printers that were loaded with AirPrint at the time of the launch of the feature.
According to PC Mag, the new HP models with AirPrint support include the HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus e-All-in-One, HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One the OfficeJet 7500A Wide Format e-All-in-One, the HP Officejet Pro 8500A e-All-in-One, the HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus e-All-in-One, and the HP Officejet Pro 8500A Premium e-All-in-One.
Following the launch of AirPrint, a number of customers had asked Apple CEO Steve Jobs about the devices set to provide support for the function and what Apple will be doing to improve it in the future. To this he had replied: “Lots more coming soon. It’s what it takes to make a giant leap to driverless printing, which is huge.”
