Android 2.2 arriving on Dell Streaks this week

Mobile phone network O2 has announced the update to Android 'Froyo' 2.2 is coming this week, to all of the Dell Streak devices on their network.

The mobile phone network has made public the news over Twitter late on Monday, in a tweet that reads: "Great news for our Dell Streak owners – the 2.2 Froyo update is coming this week!".

Dell's Android Streak tablet is exclusively carried by O2, where the device shipped with Android ‘Donut’ 1.6 back in June this year – with an update to ‘Éclair’ 2.1 in September.

The Dell Streak has a 5-inch TFT LCD capacitive touch screen, with a 1Ghz processor, 2GB of internal storage with a microSD slot, a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash – where the device sits in-between the 4.3-inch display of the HTC Desire HD and the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab.

No time lines have been given by O2 for the roll out of the update, although One Mobile Ring is due to take delivery of the device where we will publish a detailed comparison of the two Android platforms.
