Dell's Streak tablet will finally get an update to Android 2.2 Froyo update, according to a Tweet on O2's Twitter account.
The Streak was initially launched with Android 1.6 and Dell also skipped the 2.1 upgrade, so this update is long overdue. It's even longer overdue for Dell's US customers who will have to wait until the new year before getting Froyoed up.
Froyo adds a number of features to the Dell Streak, including mass updating of applications from the Android Market and getting Google Navigation to recite turn-by-turn directions.
It's not clear why the Streak didn't ship with Froyo in the first place, nor what - if anything -has changed in order for Dell to start to get round to adding the functionality now. It seems that withe Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) just around the corner, Dell is just beginning to catch up.
O2 said the update should happen "this week".
