News@5: Anonymous Targets Fax Machines, Cuba Creates Rival To Wikipedia & Microsoft Tablets

After fighting the mighty forces of Visa, Mastercard, PayPal and Amazon with online-based DDoS attacks, Anonymous have changed their methods slightly. In what has been described by experts as the “first fax DDoS attack”, the hacktivists have targeted the humble fax machine, turning it into a weapon against their enemies.

The government of Cuba has launched a Wikipedia-like online encyclopaedia, aimed at offering its perspective of the world and history. Ecured aims "to create and disseminate the knowledge of all and for all, from Cuba and with the world."

Microsoft is expected to unveil a range of tablet devices during the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next year. Citing sources familiar with Microsoft's plans, The New York Times claims that the software giant is gearing up to launch several iPad rivals at the upcoming expo.

BioWare has revealed that Mass Effect 3 will be launched for the Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 during the 2011 holiday season. Unveiled during the Spike Video Game Awards, the game is the first Mass Effect game to be launched simultaneously on three different platforms.

Samsung's Android-based tablet, the Galaxy Tab, has dropped down in price again, this time at HMV where it can be had for only £419.99 including free UK delivery. The suggested retail price of the tablet was originally set at £800 with most of the other popular online retailers selling it for £449 and above.
