Online women are suckers for a bit of lip service

Dating website reckons the best Internet chat-up line for men wooing women on its pages is: "You have beautiful lips."

According to Badoo's director of marketing, Lloyd Price, the line is the "Holy Grail of flirting."

The site said it analysed the success rates of opening lines from nearly 200,000 online flirtations in 11 languages and, while it found a bunch of regional variations, its research suggests the best way to get lucky is to compliment the lips.

Users of the site were invited to use one of 12 different ice-breakers, each complimenting a woman on an aspect of her body or appearance. Any utterance that either prompted a response or launched a conversation was deemed a success.

The line “You have beautiful lips” apparently worked across all cultures and nationalities. If you want to get a bit more specific, your success may depend on where the target of your slobbering comes from. The site reckons American, Australian and Brazilian women like to be told how how well they dress. Spanish women are gagging for a nice word about their hair, while Germans and Canadians are more interested in compliments about their skin, apparently.

For some reason the line "You have beautiful ears," works best on Dutch or Portuguese girls.

It takes a special type of woman to respond to the line: "That Julian Assange might have his knockers but I'd prefer yours any day of the week".
