Facebook has announced yet another update to the social networking platform.
The social network is planning to enhance its photo-tagging feature, allowing users to tag friends using facial recognition software.
In a blog post, Facebook engineer Justin Mitchell explained that the new group photo-tagging feature will offer users "tag suggestions" based on faces recognised by the software.
The new tagging feature has been made possible using facial recognition technology and is designed to make the process a lot easier and more streamlined.
“Because photos are such an important part of Facebook, we want to be sure you know exactly how tag suggestions work: When you or a friend upload new photos, we use face recognition software—similar to that found in many photo editing tools—to match your new photos to other photos you're tagged in,” he explained.
The company said that the feature will be rolled out in the United States in a couple of weeks.
