Sony has confirmed plans to launch an official PlayStation app for iOS and Android-powered devices.
Set to launch in the UK, Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain and Italy at first, the app will allow users to check their trophies and get the latest news from the European PlayStation blog directly to their phone.
With the app, users can also post messages to both Twitter and Facebook, send news via e-mail and check friends’ online status updates.
The PlayStation app will work on all Apple iOS 4-powered devices, and products running Google Android 1.6 or higher.
Sony has said that the next version of the app will support more languages and be made available in further European countries. No fixed release date has yet been announced by the company.
Writing on the PlayStation Europe blog, the company said: “We are already working on the next version that will support most SCEE countries and languages, and will also let you comment on PlayStation.Blog.”
The company said that there are “tons more features” planned for release, and has advised people to keep an eye on the blog for updates.
