Call of Duty: Black Ops Leads The Christmas Gaming Charts

Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops has been named the number one selling game in the UK for this Christmas season.

The game, which has sold more than three million copies in the UK alone, was followed in the gaming charts by FIFA 11 and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.

According to MCV, Black Ops has generated more than $100 million from sales, a feat previously only associated with the Wii Fit and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Other games making the list include Just Dance 2, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Gran Turismo 5 and Donkey Kong Country Returns, which were placed fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.

Combined sales for the games featuring on the top 10 list of best sellers have reached 10 million units, generating a revenue of around $345 million.

Michael Rawlinson, the UKIE director general, said in a statement: “With over 11m video games sold in the last four weeks in the UK, generating over £290m, they are clearly the gift of choice this Christmas, showing once again that the interactive entertainment industry is the UK’s leading creative industry.”
