Key Oracle enterprise applications, including PeopleSoft CRM and JD Edwards Enterprise One, are now available on Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud service.
Amazon's cloud evangelist Jeff Barr announced that some of Oracle's most widely used and popular CRM and enterprise tools will be available on Amazon's cloud service, without the need of purchasing additional licenses.
Oracle will be providing full product support to clients who shift to Amazon's EC2 platforms.
“Customers with active Oracle Support and Amazon Premium Support will be able to contact either Amazon or Oracle for support,” Barr said in a blog post.
"You can use them as-is or you can create derivative versions tuned to your particular needs. We'll start out in one Region and add more in the near future," he said.
This is a surprise move from Oracle, which has always been sceptical about the merits of cloud-based computing and supports traditional on-premise systems.
Company CEO Larry Ellison had previously said that cloud computing was nothing but just a bunch of networked boxes.
