The Best iPad Data Plans In The UK From £3.33 Per Month

Looking to buy an iPad for Christmas, then you will almost certainly need a data contract to go with it. We’ve put together a list of data plans that are available either on PAYG or on pay monthly contracts.

Note that because the iPad uses microSIMs rather than full size ones, you might need to use a meat cleaver or a similar knife to make a regular SIM compatible.

Obviously, the data plans that we've listed in this article are also compatible with other tablets like the Samsung Galaxy tab and other smartphones as well.

If you’re a light user then it might be worth having a look at the internet booster plan available from T-Mobile from as little as £3.33 per month (when purchased in advance for six months).

The deal, available here, offers "unlimited internet" for six months on your phone.

As expected T-Mobile actually has a fair usage policy for its internet and in this particular case, it's set at 500MB per month.

Note that this is a Pay as you go service which means that you will need to get a free SIM card from T-Mobile first and then top it up with £20 before texting 6MONTHWEB to 441.

Looking for something slightly beefier? Three UK has a SIM Only internet package which provides you with a monthly allowance of 1GB per month with free voicemail for a mere £5; the contract is only one month long which means that you will be able to get out of it after only 30 days.

Alternatively, you might want to look at GiffGaff's £10 Facebook Goodybag which includes minutes and texts as well. You also get unlimited internet which according to GG, truly means unlimited.

They say that "we are unlimited for personal mobile use - but not for commercial and automated use. Mobile Internet allowances exclude PC use and tethering." GiffGaff is owned by O2 and it has already confirmed that the MVNO will include unlimited internet in all its Goodybags forever.

At the other end of the spectrum, Three UK offers the One Plan offer which provides you with true unmetered broadband access for £25 per month. It is originally a full-fledged voice, text and data package but you won't use the first two and the contract will last twelve months.

Three UK is apparently committed to the "unlimited" bit of the "One Plan" description and promises not to take any actions as long as the SIM remains in the tablet or the smartphone and we discussed how you could grab any Android handset (including free ones) and turn it into a wireless hotspot.
