U.S. President Barack Obama has lauded Apple founder Steve Jobs in a recent speech, claiming that America should celebrate people that create groundbreaking products.
According to Cnet, the President implied that Jobs was a perfect example of someone that had realised the “American Dream”.
He said that the “booming middle class” in the US had made it possible for anybody to realise the dream and continues to do so, by celebrating the wealth of people that have made it big.
“We celebrate somebody like a Steve Jobs, who has created two or three different revolutionary products. We expect that person to be rich, and that's a good thing. We want that incentive. That's part of the free market,” Obama said.
The President also claimed: "people in the top 1 per cent, people in the top one-tenth of 1 per cent, or one-hundredth of 1 per cent have a larger share of income and wealth than any time since the 1920s. Those are just facts. That's not a feeling on the part of Democrats. Those are facts."
