Software giant Microsoft has revealed that the company is not planning to launch a firmware update for its Kinect motion sensing gaming peripheral.
An anonymous source had told Eurogamer that the company would soon release a software update for Kinect, which would improve its detection capabilities.
A Microsoft spokesperson has now told CVG however, that the rumour is unfounded.
“We're constantly working to expand and improve on experiences for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE, however, this rumour is completely unsubstantiated,” the company said, adding that “We couldn't be more pleased with the fidelity of the technology and clearly consumers agree given we sold more than 2.5 million units around the world in the first 25 days Kinect was on the market.”
The rumour had suggested that the Kinect update would not only enhance its detection abilities but would also up its resolution limit from 320x240 to 640x280.
