Samsung Will Debut Apple iPod Touch Rival At CES

Samsung is planning on showcasing a rival to Apple's iPod touch music player at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in January 2011.

Samsung Hub blog says that the new Samsung music device, called Galaxy player, which will run on Google's Android operating system and come in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB versions.

The device is inspired with the company's highly successful Galaxy S smartphone and will come with almost identical features only without voice calling capabilities.

The Galaxy player, which will come with a front facing VGA camera, is powered by a 1GHz processor, sports a 4-inch Super Clear LCD with a WVGA resolution, a 3.2 MP rear camera, Android 2.2 Froyo OS, HD video capture, microSD slot and GPS support.

Experts believe that after launching an iPhone competitor in the form of Galaxy S, Samsung is trying to create a device ecosystem similar to the one created by Apple, by releasing a Galaxy branded music player similar to what iPod Touch is to the iPhone.
