FBI Seizes Hardware As Part of Anonymous DDoS Investigation

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has seized two hard drives from a server belonging to a Texas based hosting company as a part of its ongoing investigation into the DDoS attacks on PayPal by the Anonymous group.

According to an affidavit procured by The Smoking Gun, the FBI believes that the servers at the Dallas based company were used to mount DDoS against PayPal by the Anonymous group as a part of Operation Payback.

The group had taken onto itself to punish companies that had submitted to political pressure from the United States government and severed their ties with controversial website WikiLeaks.

A spokesperson for a security company specialised in Cloud computing told Eweek that the attack on PayPal was not possible with the efforts of "a bunch of kids getting together and running a software" but could have involved millions of unsuspecting computer users globally.
