Apple is reportedly building a new Ping-like social networking platform for iPhone users to interact while shopping in a brick-and-mortar store.
In a patent titled 'Social Networking in Shopping Environments', discovered by Apple Insider, Apple details a tool that would allow iPhone users to network while shopping.
Users will be able to recommend a product, make comments and hold discussion, while shopping, with their friends and family members, allowing them to make an informed decision before making a purchase.
According to Apple, users will be able to share whole product lists or a single product at a store with other iOS device holders which will be able to view the product on the device instantly and make their suggestions.
“These approaches, however, require the user to have their friends with them during the shopping trip, or require the users to catch the attention of a salesperson and ensure the salesperson remains available during the shopping trip,” the patent application reads.
