Rovio Mobile is gearing up to launch its highly popular Angry Birds game to major gaming consoles starting with Sony's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.
The game, which will feature in the Minis section of the PlayStation Network (PSN), will be available to users from the 5 January.
The game, which will come with 63 levels in its PlayStation iteration, has already become a phenomena on Apple's iOS and Google's Android mobile platforms, where it has been downloaded over 50 million times.
“Use the unique destructive powers of the Angry Birds to lay waste to the pigs’ fortified castles. Angry Birds features hours of game play, challenging physics-based castle demolition, and lots of replay value,” Sony said in a blog post.
Considering that users are used to playing the game on a touch sensitive interface, it will be interesting to see how the console version of the title pans out, with users being forced to use controllers instead.
