Dell has agreed to acquire information security services outfit SecureWorks for an undisclosed sum.
According to a Dell press release, SecureWorks’ security-as-a-service applications will boost the company’s current “global IT-as-a-Service offerings and information security expertise”.
Founded in 1999, SecureWorks has a customer base of about 2,900 clients, including some 1,500 banks and credit unions, and protects trillions of dollars in financial assets.
The Atlanta-based firm, according to the press release, processes over 13 billion security issues and sees more than 30,000 malware types each day.
SecureWorks employs around 700 people and expects to hit a Fiscal Year 2010 revenue of over $120 million.
“The frequency and sophistication of attacks on technology infrastructure and malicious attempts to access data, requires reliable, capable and innovative information security,” said Peter Altabef, President, Dell Services.
“SecureWorks is a recognised industry leader in information security services and its offerings and expertise will immediately enhance our solutions portfolio. We look forward to welcoming SecureWorks team members – who bring their passion and dedication to serving clients with best-in-class security services – to Dell and our clients.”
