Domino’s Pizza has claimed that a rise in sales over the last year is largely as a result of social networking and a new iPhone app.
The company posted an 18 per cent rise in sales over the 13 weeks up until the 26th of December.
Domino’s also revealed that a third of delivery orders are now made online and that they had taken over £1 million in sales through its iPhone app, which allows customers place an order using their smartphone. According to the Guardian the company is also planning to launch a similar app for Android devices.
The delivery chain has also benefited from a strong presence on social networks, with over 1.5 million Facebook likes and 21,000 followers on Twitter.
"We have continued to see excellent growth in e-commerce sales during the year, supported by the introduction of our iPhone ordering app and increased activity in the social media arena," Domino's said.
