Netflix has partnered with hardware manufacturers to release remote controls with a dedicated Netflix-branded button for one-click access to its services.
In an announcement on Tuesday, and ahead of this week's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the company said that future remote controls for blu-ray players and web connected TVs will come with a Netflix-branded button giving subscribers access to Netflix's complete movie catalogue.
Consumer electronics firms Sony, Sharp, Samsung, Panasonic and Toshiba, as well as Haier, Memorex and Best Buy's Dynex brand have all agreed to add a Netflix button on their Blu-ray player remote controls. Meanwhile, Sony, Toshiba and Sharp will also offer the Netflix button on the remote controls for their web connected televisions, tech news site PC Mag reports.
Neil Hunt, the chief product officer at Netflix, said in a statement: “No more turning on the TV, going to a home screen and searching for the Netflix icon. With the Netflix one-click remote, it's simply a matter of pushing the Netflix button to instantly watch any of the vast selection of TV shows and movies available to stream from Netflix”.
