Thrustmaster has released the official steering wheel peripheral for Gran Turismo 5 on Sony’s PS3.
Set to cost British gamers an eye-watering £450, the T500 RS wheel measures 12-inches in diameter and features brushed metal pedals which are attached to the base so that they do not move when the wheel is in use. It also weighs a hefty 7kg, which helps with stability and reduces unwanted movement.
The product comes after Gran Turismo 5 producers Polyphony challenged French peripherals manufacturer Thrustmaster to make a wheel that was specifically designed for their PS3 game.
Polyphony boss Kazunori Yamauchi said: "The goal that I set for the Thrustmaster team was to design for me the most precise wheel ever developed, without any latency, to accurately reproduce the sensations of GT5, and let users truly feel the emotions experienced by drivers on real racing circuits."
The T500 RS is only the second wheel officially supported for play with Gran Turismo 5, the other being the Logitech G25, which is available to consumers at roughly a third of the price.
