News Corp is set to unveil its iPad only digital newspaper, The Daily, at an event on 19 January.
Yahoo’s cutline blog, citing sources familiar with the matter, reports that the new digital publication will be launched in a ceremony at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art by News Corporation owner Rupert Murdoch and Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
The Daily is to be headed by former second in command at the New York Post Jesse Angelo, and has managed to attract journalistic talent from the likes of The New Yorker, AOL and Forbes to write for it. The newspaper will operate from its offices in Los Angeles and New York.
News of the project first broke late last year and Murdoch has been vocally buoyant about the project in the months since its announcement, claiming that The Daily was his “No. 1 most exciting project”.
Confirming his commitment to the venture, he is said to be investing $30 million into the i-paper.
The Daily will not be the first mainstream iPad only publication however, after Richard Branson launched his iPad exclusive Project magazine on the tablet last November.
