Activision Blizzard's World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion has sold 4.7 million copies since its 7 December release.
The game, which is now the fastest-selling PC game in history, had already sold 3.3 million copies in the first 24 hours of its launch, with the remainder of the total of 4.7 million being sold as the month progressed, PCWorld reports.
The third expansion of the massively popular online fantasy role-playing game has completely revamped the look and feel of the numerous World of Warcraft (WoW) worlds and levels, resulting in a newer and richer experience for game players.
Mike Morhaime of Activision Blizzard said in a statement that: “We created thousands of new quests, introduced new lands to explore, and extensively revamped the game world for 'World of Warcraft: Cataclysm,' making it our biggest and most ambitious expansion yet.”
In October, Activision stated that its WoW player base had expanded to 12 million but is yet to reveal the current total number of subscribers.
