UK ISP BE Broadband has appointed Chris Stening as its new managing director.
Stening, who was previously the managing director at BSkyB owned Easynet Connect UK, has replaced Tom Williams who left the company in October 2010.
The company has made a strong position for itself in the consumer market but Stening will focus primarily on widening the company's wholesale presence.
“BE has an excellent reputation in the market and I look forward to working with our Head of BE Wholesale, Dan Cunliffe to develop our wholesale business [BE Wholesale],” Stening said in a statement.
"Chris has impressive credentials in the telecoms market. His strong leadership and shrewd strategic abilities make him a key player for BE. Additionally, his energy and enthusiasm for success will ensure the company continues to grow and further strengthen its position in the marketplace," Felix Gehr of O2 added.
BE already has a noticeable presence in the wholesale market with backing from O2/Telefonica and will be looking to further expand in the domain.
Whether this will dramatically change the company's strategy, from consumer oriented to wholesale, will affect the company is yet to be seen.
