Shazam has announced the integration of its iOS and Android apps with music streaming service Spotify.
The mobile music discovery service said that its range of free and premium apps for iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices will come with a new 'Play in Spotify' feature, set to directly take users to the Spotify app to listen to the tracks they either tag or discover through Shazam.
Users will need to have a premium account with Spotify to make full use of this feature and is available across all paid apps in the UK, Sweden, Norway, Finland, France, Spain and the Netherlands.
Shazam said that the new feature will be available on the premium versions of Encore and (SHAZAM) RED starting today, with unlimited tagging. The free Shazam app, however, comes with 5 tags per month and will get the new update sometime in the first quarter.
“Integrating Spotify into Shazam’s applications combines music discovery with one of the world’s most popular music streaming services, providing a seamless experience for music fans at the point of inspiration in any location,” Andrew Fisher, CEO of Shazam, said in a statement.
