Details Of RIM Blackberry Torch 2 Emerge Online

RIM is set to supercharge the successor to its BlackBerry Torch vertical slider smartphone, leaked data (complete with picture) obtained by BGR has revealed.

For the third time in less than 24 hours, BGR has published details of yet another unannounced RIM BlackBerry handset - and this one promises to be the most exciting of the lot.

The Torch 2 brings an unknown 1.2GHz processor; we believe that it might be an Armada 500 model (or an overclocked Armada 600), built by Marvell and packing hardware video acceleration.

The rest of the specs include Quad-band compatibility, 3.2-inch VGA capacitive display, 512MB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, a 5-megapixel camera with flash, loads of sensors and a 1300mAh battery.

It is 50 per cent thicker than the iPhone at 14.6mm, but comes with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. It will be powered by BlackBerry OS 6.1 and is expected to be released in the second half of 2011.

The specifications are very close - except for the 1.2GHz processor - to the Palm Pre which was launched back in 2009. Other RIM handsets uncovered by BGR include a new Curve and the Dakota.
