The Welsh Assembly is urging British and European suppliers to attend an event to learn about plans to deliver a world-beating next-generation broadband network for Wales.
Set to open on 26 January at the Redrow Suite, Cardiff City Stadium, the event will include a number of briefings covering all strategic, commercial and technical aspects of the network.
The announcement comes as the Welsh Assembly looks to meet its target of ensuring all businesses have access to superfast broadband by mid-2016 and all households by 2020, a key theme within the ‘Delivering Digital Wales’ strategy.
The private sector is expected to foot the bill for the roll-out in areas where there is a “strong commercial case to do so”, but Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones has said that the Assembly Government will use public funding to accelerate deployment to the most rural areas.
"We want to maximise investment opportunities across the public and private sectors, and accelerate Wales’ position in the global digital economy,” he said.
"We have made a firm commitment that businesses in Wales will have access to fast broadband by 2016 and I welcome this important key stage in delivering that commitment."
