New Apple iPhone looking Samsung mobile is leaked

South Korean consumer electronics conglomerate Samsung has had one of their upcoming mobile phones leaked, under the name of the Samsung GT-S5830.

The Samsung mobile phone blog Samfirmware (opens in new tab)published captured spy images of the unannounced handset that has a close appearance to the iPhone 4 – with its trimmings around the side of the phone, which are very reminiscent of last year’s revamp of the Apple handset series.

That website has named the phone the S5830, where One Mobile Ring has discovered there’s a reference to that model number on Samsung’s own website - here (opens in new tab)- which has the handset named as the Samsung ‘Cooper’ GT-S5830.

The leaked mobile phone has been noted to be running Android 2.2.1 on the Samsung website, where the Thailand mobile phone news website Mxphone (opens in new tab) has more specific details along with a clearer image.

Mxphone.com has the Samsung Cooper listed as also being known as the Galaxy Ace, which arrives running Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2, with the company’s TouchWiz UI 3.0 to the platform. The hardware is to contain a 3.5-inch screen TFT HVGA screen, whilst being powered by an 800MHz processor with a 5 megapixel camera.

Samsung has repeated the strategy in the past by producing a phone that’s uncomfortably close in appearance to another mobile, with the Galaxy S resembling the iPhone 3G.

We will just have to wait and see if this is one of the handsets being announced at Mobile World Congress this year by Samsung, but stay tuned to One Mobile Ring for coverage of the event.
