BT has launched an app for Apple iPad users that will allow them to access around 2 million Wi-FI hotspots across the UK.
The app, which was previously only available for iPhone and iPod Touch users, has been updated to include support for the large-screen tablet device and is available as a free download from the App Store.
Once users have downloaded and installed the app, they will be able to access the Internet via one of the many BT Wi-Fi hotspots set up around the UK under its BT Openzone and BT FON services.
The company said that its iPhone and Android Wi-Fi apps have been a roaring success with 400,000 downloads to date.
John Petter, managing director, for BT Retail Consumer, said in a statement: “The app makes accessing Wi-Fi so simple you don't even have to think about it and represents real value to our customers at a time when more and more people are accessing the Internet when they are on the move.”
