UK studios are behind more than a third of the games launched for Microsoft's Kinect motion gaming device since its launch, data released by the UKIE has revealed.
Citing figures provided by Gfk ChartTrack, the UKIE revealed that UK game developers had made 42 per cent of Kinect games and 30 per cent of games for Sony's Move motion gaming peripheral for the PlayStation 3.
Kinect Sports, the current best selling Kinect game, was developed by UK-based studio Rare and accounts for 28 per cent of total games sales for the platform. The figures also showed that Guildford's MediaMolecule is behind the UK's current best selling game, Little Big Planet 2.
“The array of strong products that our home-grown, UK talent is producing is something we can all be proud of. This just shows how our UK developer base remains one of the best in the world, and can continue to step up to the plate as the market develops and platforms evolve,” UKIE director general Michael Rawlinson said in a statement.
