Samsung has announced that LoveFilm video streaming is coming to its new range of Blu-ray players.
LoveFilm, which is already accessible on Samsung TVs running Internet@TV software, can now be used on Samsung Blu-ray boxes and Blu-ray home cinema systems.
Users wanting to use the service need to sign up to LoveFilm’s £6 per month streaming option to play its movies on the relevant hardware.
Andy Griffiths Samsung UK’s Vice President of consumer electronics said: “Adding the LoveFilm streaming service to all Samsung Blu-ray players and Blu-ray home theatre systems is great news for us at Samsung as we’re dedicated to providing our customers with relevant and exciting content, all from the comfort of their own home.”
“The Internet@TV service offers viewers a gateway to access great content in an exciting new way, unlocking the full potential of our connected devices. Services like LoveFilm will offer our customers more variety, choice and entertainment from our innovative products.”
The news follows the Amazon’s $200 million purchase of LoveFilm last week, with the retail giant buying out the remaining 58 per cent stake in the rental streaming business.
