Apple has enlisted SCC as its first Apple Authorised Systems Integrator in the UK, paving the way for a more focused sales strategy in the corporate market, especially with the launch of the iPad 2 a few weeks away.
According to Microscope, the reseller which is part of the SCH group and based in Birmingham will dedicate at least 50 staff dedicated to selling Apple products and services.
Other partners that have been recruited other partners globally - Unisys, Milestone Technologies, Agilex, Ingram Micro amongst others - to help it prepare for its onslaught on the enterprise market.
Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer announced in a conference called in January that more than 80 per cent of Fortune 100 companies are deploying or piloting the iPad, up from 65 per cent in the previous quarter.
This rise goes hand in hand with the gradual penetration of the Apple iPhone in the same market segment; 88 of the Fortune 100 companies are already iPhone customers and nearly 60 per cent of FT Europe 100 companies are considering or have deployed the iPhone.
With the impending launch of the iPad 2, expected to come in March, Apple may have an ideal "foot-in-the-door" opportunity to dislodge both RIM and Microsoft as the preferred enterprise partner for mobile technology.
