The Apple iPad 2 tablet might be released on Sunday 13th of February according to a number of rumours that have surfaced online, that's the day before the official start of Mobile World Congress and would be Apple's way of showing a middle finger to its competitors.
According to German website MacNotes.de which cites an anonymous iPad accessories manufacturer, Apple is planning an event for next week where it may demonstrate a new version of the iOS 4.3 operating system, one that not only leaves its current beta status but also introduces in-app subscriptions. Apple may also announce the new iPad 2 at the same event as a "one more thing" mini-event.
Apple VP Eddy Cue mentioned that such a feature would be introduced at the special event announcing The Daily newspaper. Macnotes previously said that the iPad 2 will be released to the general public at the every beginning of Q2.
In addition, John Gruber, one of the more astute Apple observers, said that The Daily would be free for 14 days after which the in-app subscription payment would kick in as part of iOS 4.3; this broadly coincides with the 13th of February release date.
