Nintendo has officially confirmed the titles that will be available for its 3DS handheld in the UK at launch, and there are some very familiar names to be found in the list.
The console, which builds on the company's successful dual-screen DS platform with the addition of a parallax barrier 3D screen developed by Sharp, is going to launch with a variety of titles - and while nothing stands out as a killer app, there's a little something for everyone.
Nintendogs fans will be pleased to hear that all three Nintendogs + Cats titles are confirmed as UK launch titles: Nintendogs + Cats: Golden Retriever & New Friends, Nintendogs + Cats: French Bulldog & New Friends, and Nintendogs + Cats: Toy Poodle & New Friends.
Those who prefer something a little more action-packed can choose from Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition, Sumurai Warriors: Chronicles, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars, or Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 3D.
Platformer fans will be pleased to hear that Rayman 3D is confirmed, along with LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars. And those who like to see cute furry animals plummet to their deaths will be heartened by the inclusion of Super Monkey Ball 3D in the list.
Racing fans can choose from Asphalt 3D or Ridge Racer 3D, while the much-vaunted reboot of the Pilotwings franchise - Pilotwings Resort - is unsurprisingly among the launch titles. Finally, EA's The Sims 3 rubs shoulders with Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D.
Noteable by its absence is any Mario title - normally a guaranteed launch-day name on Nintendo consoles. Although Nintendo has confirmed that, as expected, a 3DS outing is in the pipeline, it looks like the plumber won't be making an appearance at the device's debut.
So far, supermarket chain Sainsbury's looks to be leading the charge to offer the 3DS at the lowest price in the UK
